Typically, the fund commits at least 80% of its net assets to various debt instruments. This core portfolio primarily consists of obligations issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government, its agencies, and instrumentalities. It also includes investment-grade debt securities from corporations and other entities, which may encompass convertible bonds, alongside holdings in cash, cash equivalents, and other short-term investments. Beyond this primary allocation, the fund retains the flexibility to dedicate a significant portion of its capital to mortgage-related securities. These could involve commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs), credit risk transfer (CRT) securities, and even "sub-prime" mortgages. Additionally, the fund is permitted to invest in other asset-backed securities.
