Energy Transfer LP operates extensively within the energy sector, providing a comprehensive suite of energy-related services. The company manages and maintains a significant infrastructure for natural gas, including transportation pipelines and storage facilities primarily situated in Texas and Oklahoma, which features approximately 20,090 miles of interstate pipeline. It serves as a supplier of natural gas to various entities such as electric utilities, independent power producers, local distribution companies, other marketing firms, and industrial end-users. Beyond this, its operations encompass natural gas gathering networks, processing plants, and treating and conditioning facilities distributed across a wide geographical area, including Texas, New Mexico, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Louisiana. In the South Texas region, Energy Transfer also handles natural gas gathering, oil pipeline management, and oil stabilization facilities. Additionally, it provides water transport and supply services to natural gas producers in Pennsylvania. The company's asset portfolio further includes around 5,700 miles of natural gas liquid (NGL) pipelines, alongside NGL fractionation and storage facilities, and associated terminals. In the crude oil market, Energy Transfer is involved in transportation, terminalling, acquisition, and marketing activities, controlling roughly 14,500 miles of crude oil trunk and gathering pipelines across the Southwest, Midcontinent, and Midwest United States. It also handles the distribution and sale of refined petroleum products like gasoline, middle distillates, and various motor fuels. Complementary services offered by Energy Transfer include natural gas compression and the removal of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Its diverse business ventures extend to managing coal and natural resource properties, selling standing timber, leasing coal-related infrastructure, collecting oil and gas royalties, and generating electrical power. Originally established in Dallas, Texas, in 1996, the company was previously known as Energy Transfer Equity, L.P., before officially adopting its current name, Energy Transfer LP, in October 2018.
